It's important for us that you have great trading experiences on Trendsales. Therefore we have gathered some tips on how to trade safely, and what you need to be aware of when trading online.
How can I increase my safety when trading on Trendsales?
Meetup. If possible it's always safest to meetup with a seller to complete a deal. Here, you can check the item for any flaws and/or defects together with the seller, and you can choose not to go through with the deal, if the item doesn't live up to your expectation.
Be aware of the chosen payment method. If you choose to pay using MobilePay (Danish users only), make sure that the seller's name is the same as the name visible on their MobilePay account before transferring. If the name differs, we do not recommend going through with the deal. Contact our supportteam if you're having doubts. We advise against using bank transfers, more specifically "instant transfers", as most fraud cases happen through this payment method.
Do not pay before a clear deal has been made. Make sure that you and the seller have made a clear agreement about when the item is going to be shipped. If possible, you can pay half the money before the item is sent and the other half when you have received proof that the item has been sent or when you receive the item.
Ask to have the item sent with track and trace. Remind the seller to get valid shipping documentation. Do yourself the extra favor and pay a little extra to get the item sent with track and trace, so you can follow up on the item's journey to you.
What should I be aware of when engaging with a seller?
The seller's profile
Look at the seller's profile. Has the seller created the account with his/her full name and a picture of her-/himself that can give you an indication of who the seller is? A filled out profile is an indicator that the seller stands by his/her identity and is trustworthy.
Ask for information. If any information is missing, ask the seller. Get the seller's real name and his/her phone number, so you can contact each other outside of Trendsales, if necessary.
Has the seller completed any deals? Is the seller a member of TrendsalesClub? If he/she is, you are able to see on the profile, if he/she has completed deals before, and for how long the profile has existed on Trendsales. You can also check the seller's ratings.
The seller's ads
How are the seller's items presented? Has the seller used his/her own pictures? is there more than one picture? is there a description of the items for sale, so that you can get a good look at the conditions of the items? A detailed ad with the seller's own pictures is a sign of credibility and it shows that the seller wants you to have all the information beforehand. Ask questions about the item and ask for more pictures when in doubt. Check the comment section below the item description to see if the seller has already answered your questions there.
Where are the seller and the ad placed? If you look up the seller, and it states that he/she is located in one area, the seller's items should be placed in the same area. If you experience that the seller has multiple items located elsewhere, especially if these items are expensive, we advise you to contact support, so that we can check the profile thoroughly.
The seller's behavior
Does the seller seem eager? Is the seller eager and pushy about getting the deal sealed? Does the seller not answer your questions? Does it feel like the seller is pressuring you by telling that there are other interested parties in order for you to act faster? Then you might need to take a step back and consider the situation.
How is the seller willing to trade? Is the seller only willing to ship the item to you, and does the seller only wish to accept money through an instant transfer? If so, we advise you NOT to go through with the deal before you have been in contact with support.
Does the seller have valid documentation? Does the seller have the original receipt or another type of authentication document in order to prove that the item belongs to the seller and that the item is original? If you buy an expensive item, ask if the seller has a receipt on paper or e-mail and ask for a picture of it. Doublecheck this picture by searching for other similar pictures via Google search to make sure the picture is not just stolen from the internet. If this is the case, please contact support.
